Irving

Irving is a beautiful and large city located specifically in Dallas County, in the state of Texas. The population census conducted in 2010 succeeded in determining that this city had a total population of 216,290 habitants, and a population density of 1,227.75 people per km². However, it is estimated that in 2019 the total population will increase to 236,798 habitants.

According to the U.S. Census Bureau, this city has a total area of 176.17 km², of which only 1.47% is water, and 173.57 km² is land.

Short History

This magnificent city was founded in 1903. Believe it or not, the name of the city was in honor of Washington Irving. However, Irving started years ago (1889), previously this city was called “Gorbit”, and in the year 1894 the name of this city was changed to “Kit”. In spite of that, the first mayor of Irving was Otis Brown on April 14, 1914.

Even during the 19th century, Irving had many buildings, especially churches, blacksmith shops, and a general store. In fact, public schools were established in this city in 1909. The population growth was a little slow, and at times, the population growth stopped. But, during the 1930s, the total population increased significantly.

In Irving, you can do several things, mainly because Irving has several entertainment centers. In fact, Irving is the home city of two athletic conferences.

Also, you can visit the Irving Arts Center, a publicly owned entertainment attraction. In this arts center they offer cultural programs for the entire community. This means that the residents of this city can work as musicians, actors, dancers, artists, among other things.
