DeSoto

DeSoto is a city located in Dallas County, Texas. Thanks to the population census conducted in 2010, it was determined that the city had a total population of 49,047 habitants, and a population density of 874.49 habitants per km². However, it was estimated that in 2019 the total population will increase to 52,988 habitants.

In addition, according to the U.S. Census Bureau, DeSoto has a total area of 56.09 km², of which only 0.17% (0.1 km²) is water, and 55.99 km² is dry land.

Short History

This city was established in 1847, which means that it is one of the oldest cities in North Texas. In addition, the first post office was established in 1881. This post office helped to improve communication throughout the city.

In 1885, this town had a total population of 120 inhabitants. In addition, there were several businesses operating in this area; a general store, and a cotton industry. However, shortly thereafter, the total population decreased considerably, and so did the number of businesses.

After World War II, the total population of this city increased considerably. The first population census was taken in 1950, and this city had 298 inhabitants. In 2005, DeSoto became the largest and most diverse city in Dallas County.
